People Demanding Action Arizona volunteers joined CHISPA-AZ as they broke in the ground for a new community garden in Phoenix
People Demanding Action Arizona joined the national Progressive Democrats of America on their Healthcare Not Warfare campaign and we took a stand on Sunday, January 15th in Phoenix.
We joined Our Revolution and the Progressive Democrats of America on Saturday, January 14th.
We joined public comment against the Pima County Board of Supervisors from giving their endorsement to the federal government to make Monsanto’s new greenhouse property a Foreign Trade Zone subject to much less taxes and regulations.
Arizona Senator Martin Quezada spoke to Somos America about the upcoming legislative session and potential bills on immigration issues on Tuesday, January 10th. Afterwards, PDaction AZ also joined Somos America’s Coalition partner, the Civil Rights Alliance to further discuss upcoming issues.
We had a meeting in Phoenix at Eastlake Park Recreation Center on Monday, January 9th to kick start the eight issue teams our members voted on in March 2016. We had four break out groups, including Education, Environmental, Immigration, and Voters’ Rights & Election Reform.
People Demanding Action Arizona took a stand with the United Against Hate Coalition in Phoenix outside the state capitol on Monday, January 9th. Other organizations included the ACLU, CHISPA-AZ, Planned Parenthood, Progressive Democrats of America (PDA), Puente, and Trans Queer Pueblo.
People Demanding Action Arizona was one of many organizations participating at the Voters’ Rights Summit Saturday January 7th, organized by the League of Women Voters. They had great panelists and break out group sessions. Representative Ken Clark spoke about “ballot harvesting”, which you can see on our YouTube page here. We gathered at Grand Central Coffeehouse with AZ Elections Reform on Friday, January 6 to get ready for the start of the Arizona State Legislative Session. On Friday, January 6th, we joined the Chandler Chamber of Commerce for their annual breakfast and learned more about the plans for 2017 by our local government officials.
